New BOE member Tonya Bloodworth sworn in
Welcome to our newest Rockdale County Board of Education member Tonya Bloodworth, who was recently sworn in at the March 12, 2026, Rockdale County Board of Education work session! Rockdale County Chief Superior Court Judge Nancy Bills administered the oath. Family members who were standing next to Ms. Bloodworth during the swearing in were her aunt Mary McCrimmon and her cousin Jeffery Dinkin.
Tonya Bloodworth is a retired educator with more than 30 years of service in public education, including over 18 years in educational leadership. Her distinguished career includes service in the Savannah–Chatham County, DeKalb County, and Rockdale County Public School systems.
Ms. Bloodworth earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from South Carolina State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusetts.
She taught English at Rockdale High School and later served as principal of Edwards Middle School and Salem High School. In 2019, Ms. Bloodworth was appointed as the first Family Engagement Director for Rockdale County Public Schools. She has also been a presenter at numerous conferences and professional forums.
Ms. Bloodworth is an active member of Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia, the National Education Association, the South Carolina State University Alumni Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Ms. Bloodworth is the proud daughter of Mr. Leotis and Mrs. Marie Bloodworth and the sister of Dr. Leotis Bloodworth Jr. and Dr. Maria Bloodworth Graham. She is a devoted aunt to Briannia, Jailyn, and Lauren Bloodworth and lovingly embraces her sister‑in‑law, Monet Bloodworth.
