Parents and students, Salem High School will engage in virtual learning for the first semester of the 2020-21 school year.  Please review the important information below as we prepare for the beginning of the year.

Our principal, Dr. Brandi Johnson, recorded a welcome message for the first day of school.  If you are new to the Salem Family, this information will help you get started today!

Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Parents, if you have not already done so, please set up an Infinite Campus parent portal account (click here for directions). Parent Portal allows you to monitor your children's attendance and grades.  Click here to go to the Parent Portal, and be sure to download the free "Campus Parent" app for iPhone and Android in their respective app stores.

We ask that all parents (new and returning) please complete Annual Student Updates prior to the first day of school. This process allows parents to update contact information and sign school forms (such as the laptop checkout form) digitally. To get started, log into Parent Portal, click "More," then click "Annual Student Updates."

Students can access their grades, attendance, and unofficial transcript on Infinite Campus by logging into ClassLink and opening the Campus Student app.

Information for Families New to Rockdale County Public Schools
Rockdale County Public Schools is a one-to-one district, meaning that each child is issued a Dell 3190 laptop to complete schoolwork.  Click here for information on the laptop.  Click here for information on our one-to-one program in general.

There is a $10 Technology Fee assessed on each device, and this fee can be paid securely in Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  The Technology Fee covers the device in the event of accidental damage or theft.  If your laptop is ever stolen, please contact local police, obtain a police report, and make an appointment to submit the report to the school, and you may be issued a replacement device.

You may check out a laptop when you come to the school to register your child.  Registration is by appointment only.  Please call the school at 770.929.0176 to make an appointment.

Once you receive your student laptop, if you still don't know how to get started in your classes, please contact your counselor for assistance.  Counselors are assigned to students by last name as follows:

Robyn Medlock-Igbo (Serving Last Names A-D)
James Demmons (Serving Last Names E-K)
Kindra Latimore (Serving Last Names L-Roc)
Candice Anderson (Serving Last Names Rod-Z)

Information for Students Returning to RCPS
All students who were enrolled in an RCPS middle or high school last year may keep the laptop they were issued last year.  If you are a returning student and you turned in your laptop over the summer, you may come to Salem to check out a laptop between 3pm and 7pm on Friday, August 21st.

If your laptop is not working, is working poorly, or has physical damage, you can make an appointment with the Salem INTEL team to have it repaired or replaced.  Please click here to make an appointment.

How is the daily school schedule going to run during virtual learning?
Please click here to review the daily school schedule.  Teachers will be taking attendance in Infinite Campus as if we were in a face-to-face learning environment.  Teachers are asked to record live sessions to make available to students who are unable to attend in person.  There are no full class live sessions on Fridays.  Instead, these are flexible learning days in which students may be working on tasks independently, or teachers may set up individual or small group sessions as needed.

How do I get started with my classes this year?
ItsLearning will be the central hub of our virtual classes this semester.  To get to ItsLearning, sign on to your ClassLink homepage (Click here if ClassLink does not appear when you open your browser).  Then look for the ItsLearning app in ClassLink.

By the first day of school, your teacher should have important information and resources in his or her ItsLearning class to get you started.  If you have additional questions about coursework, please contact your teacher.  Click here for the Salem High School Faculty/Staff directory.

How do I get technical support during virtual learning?
We have created libraries of self-help videos to assist parents and students.
Parents, click here to access your support library.
Students, click here to access your support library. If prompted to log into your RCPS account, please do so and you should see the page.

If you continue to have issues, please follow these steps to get your issues resolved as efficiently as possible.

1. Please contact your teacher for help. Many issues tend to be more instructional than technical.

2.
If your teacher is unable to help, you can contact the Salem Technology Department:

Are you experiencing hardship getting home Internet?
Please click here for information on getting low cost home Internet service.

Many local businesses offer free wi-fi to guests.  If you have health concerns, you may be able to access free wi-fi just outside such businesses.

Coming later in September, RCPS will install wi-fi extenders outside of Salem, allowing better access to the school network from the front parking lot.  Please check this page later to find out when this technology will be ready.
