Class of 2020 Graduation Ceremonies

Baccalaureate ceremony is a student organized, spiritual, religious ceremony held a few days before graduation. It is a time to celebrate and embrace the foundational skills and family values that played and may continue to play an integral part in the graduates’ success. Graduates may sing, dance, act, and reflect upon all their personal and academic accomplishments. Attendance is optional.  
WEDNESDAY, May 13, 2020 | 7:00PM (Graduates arrive by 6:00PM)  
Rockdale County Auditorium (Rockdale County Auditorium is NOT Rockdale Career Academy!)
Rockdale County Auditorium is located in downtown Conyers at the following address:

Cap, Gown, Tassel, Stole.  
Dress Shoes required. No tennis shoes. 
(Please refrain from wearing honor cords to the Baccalaureate ceremony).

Seminole Stadium | Salem High School 

9:00AM-12:00PM MON, May 18, 2020 (ALL Graduates) 
9:00AM-Until Completion TUES, May 19, 2020 in the SHS Gymnasium (ALL Graduates)  
*Seniors should enter the school through the lower entrance of the gym.  
Speakers or performers for Graduation: 
Valedictorian and Salutatorian will be expected to speak during the graduation ceremony. Candidates for Valedictorian and Salutatorian should plan to submit a well-prepared speech for graduation that has been approved by our principal, Dr. Brandi Johnson. Once the Valedictorian and Salutatorian have been named, these two students will present their prepared speeches during the 2020 Graduation Ceremony.  
Honor Graduates  
Honor graduate status is conferred upon any graduate candidate who has earned a 3.5 or higher GPA on the weighted scale for his/her high school career. Honor graduates will be announced at Graduation practice on TUES, May 19th where honor cords will be distributed to the Honor Graduates for the Class of 2020. At the same time, the names of the valedictorian and salutatorian will be announced, and medallions awarded. Other honor cords or sashes will be awarded by the organization that is granting the honor. In order to be allowed to participate in the Baccalaureate and Graduation exercises, students must meet ALL requirements and rules for Graduation.  
All seniors should plan to arrive to Salem High School, properly dressed, by 5:00pm. Senior parking and meeting location information will be provided during the scheduled graduation practices provided above.

Young Ladies: black knee length skirt/dress or black slacks and white blouse, flat shoes (no tennis shoes or flip flops).

Young Men: black slacks, black socks, black shoes (no tennis shoes or flip flops), white-dress shirt, appropriate tie. 

Tickets and Seating  
The ceremony will be held outside at Seminole Stadium. Each graduate will get a total of fifteen (15) tickets.  Additional tickets are not available for purchase, however graduates may exchange tickets amongst themselves. Gates will open at 5:30 PM. Handicap seating will be available.   

In the case of inclement weather, the graduation ceremony will be held in the Salem High School Gymnasium. In this case, each candidate will be issued four (4) graduation tickets only. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience, as we want to ensure each graduate’s immediate family members (parents/guardians), are accommodated first.
